BRINGING THE BEST BELGIAN MOVIES TO CAPE TOWN

The Belgian Chamber of Commerce in Cape Town and The Labia Theatre are organising the first edition of the “Belgian Film Festival”(BFF), from the 1st – 4th March 2018, at The Labia Theatre, 66 Orange Street.

This initiative from the Belgian Chamber of Commerce in Cape Town came to promote the Belgian film industry.

DURING 4 DAYS THE FESTIVAL WILL SHOWCASE 7 MOVIES FROM BELGIUM AND 7 SHORT FILMS FROM SOUTH AFRICA.

To create a cultural bridge and a more visible dialog between the Belgian and the South African film industries, the BFF brought on board the acclaimed “Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival” that is looking forward to show highlights of the “Made in South Africa” Competition from past years.

Michel de Wouters, BFF co-founder said:

“We believe the festival will be a great environment to link and raise more attention towards both countries films. They have been developing and overcoming with amazing quality from they scripts to the making off on big screens. It is a big step for future collaborations between Belgium and South Africa and a good occasions to connect those dimensions. “

BFF’s selection will present the 3 latest award winning feature movies released in 2017, “INSYRIATED“ a drama by Philippe Van Leeuw to open this festival on the first night; “Above The Law” a crime movie by Franck Valken & Jean-François Hensgens and “Speechless / Sprakeloos” directed by Hilde van Mieghem, a drama based on the autobiographical novel by the famous Belgian author “Tom Lanoye”

The program will also present “The Sound Of Belgium” by Jozef Déville. The selected 2012 Academy Award Foreign Movies “Bullhead“ (2012) by Michael R. Roskam and “The Promise” by the famous director brothers Luc & Jean-Pierre Dardenne.

And to close on Sundaymorning, BFF will have a yummy Belgian breakfast with waffles and drinks for the whole family to enjoy.

BFF has the honor to have Tom Lanoye, one of Belgium’s most famous authors and well known to Cape Town.

Tom Lanoye will talk about “Speechless”, his novel masterpiece based upon his relation with his mother’s life and final struggle.

Single Ticket: R 50 per person per movie session.

Sunday Breakfast special: Ticket R 100/adult R 75/kids (1 movie session + Belgium Breakfast)
