Last year the Chamber organised a unique filmfestival promoting films shot on a mobile phone. Almost 60 filmmakers competed in the first edition. The awards night was held at the Residence of the Belgian Consul, the evening was a mix of screenings and discussions with people from the industry all in a Belgian setting. The futuristic ZaiTruck was used as a huge screen showing films from the different categories; Best Fiction, Best documentary and Best Innovation. Special focus was on short ads shot by and for Belgian companies active in South Africa.

A international jury selected the finalists and winners of the festival:

MMOCA BEST DOCUMENTARY 2020 – Kos Gangsters Mobile Filmmaker Lara Taylor

MMOCA BEST INNOVATION 2020 – VOLVO Filmmaker:Thania Olivier

The winners received a money price of R5000 and a production grant of R10.000. The money is used to create a short movie for the sponsors/partners of the festival. At this point all of the winning filmmakers are in the process of filming and editing their film.
